About Aira

Until every patient understands.

Why we built Aira, and who it's for.

Where this started

Aira began with a simple, painful problem: walking out of a doctor's appointment and not remembering what was actually said. For anyone who has spent years caring for a parent, a spouse, or a loved one through a difficult diagnosis, this moment is familiar. Important instructions get missed. Medical language gets lost in translation, literally and figuratively. And the questions you meant to ask never get asked.

Aira was built to close that gap — quietly, simply, and without adding one more complicated app to learn.

What we believe

Healthcare information should be understandable to the person it's about, not just the person delivering it. That means plain language. It means your own language, whatever that is. And it means giving you the right questions to bring back, so nothing important gets left behind.

How it works, simply

You record your visit. We turn it into a plain-language explanation in the language you're most comfortable with. Then we help you prepare the questions worth asking next time. That's the whole idea — nothing more complicated than that.

Who's behind it

Aira is built by a team with deep personal experience in caregiving, combined with clinical oversight from physicians who understand both the promise and the limits of technology in a doctor's office. Our explanations are grounded in trusted, established medical sources — never invented, never guessed.

Languages we support

Aira automatically detects the language you speak when you record — no setup required. We support 50+ languages, including English, Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, French, Arabic, Hindi, Urdu, Portuguese, Russian, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Tagalog, German, Italian, Polish, Bengali, Haitian Creole, Swahili, Turkish, and many more.

Don't see your language listed? Let us know — we're actively expanding our language support.

Your privacy & security

Aira is designed with HIPAA-aligned security practices to protect your health information.

When you record a conversation with your doctor, that recording is processed securely in the cloud using encrypted, access-controlled systems. We do not sell or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.

Aira is continuously working toward formal third-party security certification (SOC 2 Type II) to validate these protections on an ongoing basis.

If you have questions about how your data is handled, please contact us — we're glad to walk you through it. For full detail, see our Privacy Policy.
